About the Program

Why Date Night & Intimacy?

Whether you have lived with your partner for years, or your relationship is fairly new, Parkinson’s may have shredded the connection you used to have. Roles may have changed as well as bedrooms—and this can wreak havoc on both of you. Intimacy is more than sex!

Date Night offers a way to get close again, to stop thinking of yourselves as “patient” and “carepartner” and return to a new version of “couple.”

The Date Night Card Game

Our one-of-a-kind “playing card deck” provides participants with structured interactions designed to rebuild trust, connection, and intimacy between partners navigating Parkinson’s.

Date Night & Intimacy participants receive their own card deck to take home!

Please Ask Your Care Team

It can be uncomfortable and embarrassing to speak about problems you might be having around intimacy and sexuality. It might also be difficult for your provider! Let him or her know in advance of an appointment that you want to discuss these issues.

Talk to a Sex Therapist

One of the many benefits of this program is the opportunity to meet for a private session with Dr. Kelly Rees, a sex therapist who works with the Parkinson’s community.

Kelly focuses on sensual and sexual concerns and shifting intimacy over the years. She also guides people who have recently received a Parkinson’s diagnosis to initiate new partnerships. Her goal for all individuals is to engage the mind and heart while centering on the body in a private setting where you and/or you and your partner come first.
